Direct Payments and Personal Assistants

The previous page explained some of the basics, for assistance only.  You must satisfy yourself that the information you have is correct when choosing how to spend your Direct Payment
What else should I do? You might find some of the following questions useful when thinking about choosing a Company such as ours
  • Can the Company provide the services I want?  Do they have other services?
  • What charges will be made?  Are they "all-inclusive" or are there extras, such as VAT, holiday pay, National Insurance, travelling expenses? (Ours are all-inclusive)
  • Do I have to contract for a minimum number of hours a week?
  • What if the regular carer is sick, or on holiday? (We handle all this)
  • Can the Company be contacted at all times? (We can be)
  • How could I complain about the service if I am not satisfied? (We have full procedures and systems)
  • Are the Company's staff fully trained, insured, police checked?  Do they have codes of practice, policies and procedures? (Ours are)
  • Does the Company meet national care standards (We do)

But before entering into a contract, you will have to finalise your Direct Payments with the Local Authority

This all seems a bit complicated! Direct Payments were designed to give you choice.  Making a good choice depends on getting the right information. Getting the right information often involves some effort!

Who else can help? You may wish to discuss your options with family, or an "advocate" (lawyer, advisor, volunteer) if you have one.

We always make sure that everything is completely understood and agreed before entering into a contract with anyone. We are a locally owned and managed Company with many years experience at delivering care to people of all ages, many with disabilities
